Fire Systems
Metrocity BUSINESS CENTER is protected from any kind of potential fire risk by central fire detection, fire warning and fire fighting systems. These systems have been designed according to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Fire Regulations, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) codes and specifications required by International Insurance companies.
Water sprinkler system is used in the Metrocity BUSINESS CENTER as part of the fire protection and prevention systems. Upright and pendent sprinkler caps are placed to protect up to 12 m² for the Ordinary Hazard category areas and 21 m² for the Light Hazard category areas.
The distances between the sprinkler caps are min. 1,8 m., max. 4,6 m. and the distance from outer windows and walls is max. 1,5 m.. 1 main, 1 reserve + 1 joker Amstrong brand electrical pumps with the following specifications : 120 m3/ h, 4 m3/ h - 130 mSS, 140m3/ h, 2 x 55KW + 3KW; feed the sprinkler system from a 240 ton fire water tank which is dedicated to the sprinkler system. Fire pumps are powered directly from both the transformer and generators. These power lines are connected to every pump seperately. There are also centralized automation and emergency announcement systems which put the system into use in case of an emergency.
In addition, there are water connection points at the building entrances to help the fire brigade fight fire more effectively. Protection of the outer perimeter will be done through use of the installed hydrant system.
The main reason for human losses in case of fire is due to smoke inhalation. In compliance with NFPA92-4, smoke is evacuated by an effective ventilation system in order to allow escape through a smoke free atmosphere.
In order to ensure that the fire fighting system works efficiently in the event of an earthquake, all the necessary precautions have been taken, including an automated cut off valve system that will cut off the natural gas flow.
Fire detection system includes addressable optical smoke detectors for office areas, ionization smoke detectors for storage areas and electrical control rooms, heat detectors for mechanical control rooms and elevator machine rooms.
In addition to addressable monitoring modules that activate the sprinkler system, addressable manual emergency buttons are used on each floor as part of the fire detection system.
